LP - I don’t tend to buy these. There was one huge exception this year, Joaquin Claussell’s Africa Caribe (Fania) . I’m also looking forward to listening to Gilles Peterson’s Havana Cultura (The Search Continues) LP (Brownswood).

Compilations, mixes: MCDE on DJ-Kicks, 15 years of Body&Soul (Ministry of Sound)

Danilo’s Boiler Room mix is pretty awesome, so is Recloose’s for RA but the mix that defined my year really was Take 2 And Pass made by Benguin. It’s rare, it grooves and is no longer available (as far as I know). I respect and enjoy his sound and am pleased he’s finally showing off his producing talent too. Check out Radiator or and this edit.

VDRK started then stopped podcasting, i listened to both episodes lots. onemansjourney put some goodness on soundcloud, so did frankieaglow. Socialdance found a lost tape full of african rhythm. I always check out analog-blog’s beats too.

We also have a mystery producer, who hasn’t come out on tumblr yet. maybe next year?

Finally it turns out that thatsnotgangster doesn’t only know lots about hiphop, baseball and history but does fine vinyl only rare groove, soul, disco mixes  and he names them after days of the week (I must’ve picked up this habit from him, cos I started to do it too).
